My Review: This book was no less spectacular than the three preceding ones. It carries us further through the events of the American Revolution introducing new characters and more intrigue. Hines builds such a convincing story that you have to remind yourself that it is fiction, albeit the historical characters were real and the events of the war were, too. Hines captures the ennui of the South with their lack of revolutionary passion which led to the capture of Charles Town, not once, but twice.

And she captures again the new spirit which erupts after the turn of Benedict Arnold to the British side. Her well-developed characters express poignantly the terror and strife of war. Even the most villainous characters were developed to show they, too, had a softer side and not all villainous actions can be painted with the same brush. When I finished the book I felt sorrow for such a war pitting neighbor against neighbor, taking sides — either Loyalist or Rebel, the secret spying that took place to try to win an advantage, all the lives that were destroyed through loss of family.
And with those thoughts I concluded we should take pride and care of our young nation, not yet years old. So much blood has spilt giving us the life we enjoy today. We stand upon its foundation and should fervently protect it and what it stands for—life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for ALL—always striving to reach this goal.
I encourage all history buffs to read this series. I highly recommend it.
The Heavens Shall Fall (Winds of Betrayal, #3)
It has prodded me to further research this dangerous time in our history and understand the events that made the United States a nation. Additionally, I look forward to reading Ms. Hines series Tides of Charleston, also dealing with the American Revolution. About the Author: Winds of Betrayal series was inspired by Jerri Hines' fascination with a revolution filled with intrigue, spies, betrayal and romance. The American Revolutionary War Series-Winds of Betrayal is a family saga that follows the lives of two siblings, Jonathan and Hannah Corbett, and their path to freedom.
The fifth book of the series will come out sometime , entitled Set Fire to the Rain which takes the American Revolution to the end. Jerri Hines writes under other pen names including Colleen Connally. Under Colleen Connally, she has written a historical romance series, Secret Lives, which is riddled with romantic suspense and a touch of paranormal.
She began using a pen name, Carrie James Haynes, when she released the fantasy saga, Whispers of a Legend. Shadows of the Past, a free ebook, is the first in the series. She is excited about Whispers of a Legend, a sweeping epic fantasy saga filled with adventure and romance. She also has released a paranormal suspense, Dreamscape. Note: Jerri and I have exchanged a few emails and she shared some information I thought to pass along. In her words: I love history, especially the American Revolution. It has fascinated me for a long time. Our founding fathers did an excellent job in creating our country, especially after studying other revolutions.
Usually, chaos follows. Although they had challenges, the Founding Fathers had a vision.
I have mixed historical figures in with my imagination in my books. I didn't feel comfortable changing their life history so I just modeled my characters after them. May 20, Sherry Teed rated it it was amazing. I have read all the books in the series andI love the heavens shall fall and I'm excited to read the final book out in May 20, Jenna rated it it was amazing Shelves: action , espionage , mystery-thriller , thriller. In continuum saga of Dr. Jonathan, and Hannah Corbett. The deception, traitors, espionage, and steamy hot romance brings you to the heart of the American revolution.
Patriots are clamoring for their defeat in Charles town, while Dr. Jonathan Corbett became a prisoner of the British imperial army, and wife Rebekah was under house arrest. And the only way to save Jonathan was the betrayal of Rebekah upon Jonathan's trust. Meanwhile, the British General Marcus Durham shall move heaven, and earth to get hold his son Seth, and ex-lover Hannah, and used it on Jonathan's acquittal towards the hangman's noose.
The American spy network perceived that there was off course, the British informer seems to know their movement, so it is up to Rupert now to find the mole inside their organization, and disband the British occupation from the South. I learnt my American Revolutionary War even more upoe this book and glad I can access Wikipedia whilst reading so I can see more historical facts and pictures of this characters from both sides. Some truth of dialogue between John Andre during his arrest and other events during this war.
I know this is a fictional but I can't help it feeling patriotic and appreciation to our ARW heroes due to accuracy throughout the story and my dislike to British and no we I torn between stop reading Recency Romance with all this English aristocrats or do go on.
